HSE

Safety is the licence to operate

Working on energised networks and open carriageways means safety is not a policy document — it is the condition of being allowed on site at all.

Integrated management system

What we commit to

Our HSEQ management system is built to ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System Framework (OSHAD-SF), and to the requirements of TAQA as the network operator.

Zero harm

Prevention of occupational injury and ill health in every workplace we operate, with hazards identified before the work starts rather than after an incident.

Permit-to-work discipline

Work on energised systems proceeds only under permit, received by an engineer holding a competency card, with our own safety officers holding the authority to stop the job.

Pollution prevention

Control of emissions to air, discharge to water bodies and disposal of hazardous waste to land arising from our operations.

Worker consultation

Employees and worker representatives take part in hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation and the development of controls.

Legal compliance

Compliance with all applicable legal requirements and with the standards set by TAQA, verified rather than assumed.

Continual improvement

The policy and the objectives behind it are reviewed at least annually, and the system is measured against its own targets.

On site

How it looks in practice

Toolbox talks before each shift, welfare and assembly points on every compound, heat-stress control through the summer and traffic management that keeps the public away from an open trench.

Worker welfare

How our people are treated

Our worker welfare, accommodation and labour compliance policy follows Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Employment Relations and its Executive Regulations, and applies to employees, contractors and sub-contractors alike.

No recruitment fees
The employer covers all recruitment costs. No fee is charged to a worker, and personal documents are never withheld.
Wages through the WPS
Full monthly wages paid on time through the Wage Protection System, with payroll records covering allowances, deductions and overtime.
Hours and rest
A maximum of 48 hours a week, a break after five hours, at least one day off every seven and reduced hours in Ramadan and through the summer.
Accommodation standards
Licensed accommodation with a minimum of three square metres per occupant, air conditioning, a personal bed and lockable cupboard, and daily cleaning.
Medical cover from day one
Employer-funded medical insurance valid across all emirates from the first day of employment, with full statutory leave entitlements.
Grievance without retaliation
Several reporting channels, a right of appeal, guaranteed confidentiality, and protection against retaliation. Grievances are logged and reviewed.
Freedom of movement
No curfews outside working hours, no employment bans, and freedom to change employer on due notice, with final dues settled within fourteen days.
Free transport
Registered, maintained, air-conditioned vehicles with seatbelts and fire extinguishers, provided at no cost to the worker.

Certified, and checked

The management system behind these commitments is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and audited by the certifying body rather than by us.
